  • Abrasive Discs for Floor Scrubbers

Abrasive discs for floor scrubbers make it possible to adapt the mechanical action to the required level of floor care, from maintaining shine through to wet stripping. The range includes 15 references, divided into three levels of action and five diameters from 381 to 533 mm, corresponding to sizes from 15 to 21 inches.

The colour helps identify the appropriate application: red for buffing and spray polishing, green for heavy-duty cleaning and light stripping, and black for intensive wet stripping. All models are made from polyester fibre with a thickness of 23 to 25 mm and are supplied in cartons of 5 units.

Red: maintain shine and remove superficial marks

The red disc is suitable for lightly soiled floors when the aim is to maintain or restore their appearance without carrying out a stripping operation. It can be used dry or with a polishing spray.

The buffing action removes light dirt, scuff marks and superficial black marks. It also helps maintain a high level of shine on regularly maintained surfaces. Red discs can be used with machines operating at up to 800 rpm.

Suitable floor types include protected concrete, tiles, natural or reconstituted stone and thermoplastic flooring.

Green: increase cleaning action without full stripping

The green disc is intended for heavy-duty scrubbing and light stripping operations in wet conditions. Its level of abrasiveness acts on the soiled upper layer of the floor covering when routine cleaning is no longer sufficient.

The intended result is a clean, matt surface ready for the next stage of the maintenance cycle. Rotational speed must not exceed 350 rpm.

This colour can be used on untreated or protected concrete, tiles, natural stone and thermoplastic flooring.

Black: remove accumulated dirt and old coatings

The black disc provides the most abrasive action in the range. It is intended for heavy-duty wet stripping when the operation requires the removal of ingrained dirt and accumulated old floor coatings.

Its action is intended to restore the original surface before further refurbishment operations. The maximum operating speed is 350 rpm.

Suitable surfaces include untreated or protected concrete, tiles, natural or reconstituted stone and protected thermoplastic flooring.

    15 references across five diameters

The reference system combines each diameter with the three levels of action. The size required by the machine and the type of floor treatment can therefore be selected separately.

  • 381 mm – 15 inches: red 381-3, green 381-5, black 381-7.
  • 406 mm – 16 inches: red 406-3, green 406-5, black 406-7.
  • 432 mm – 17 inches: red 432-3, green 432-5, black 432-7.
  • 457 mm – 18 inches: red 457-3, green 457-5, black 457-7.
  • 533 mm – 21 inches: red 533-3, green 533-5, black 533-7.

The suffix -3 identifies the red references intended for buffing, the suffix -5 identifies the green references for cleaning and light stripping, and the suffix -7 identifies the black references intended for wet stripping.

Polyester fibre and a thickness of 23 to 25 mm

The polyester fibre composition is common to all three colours and five diameters. Thickness ranges from 23 to 25 mm, with a tolerance of ± 5%.

This construction is combined with different levels of abrasiveness according to colour, while the diameter determines the size of disc to be fitted. Each reference is supplied in cartons of 5 units, making it easier to maintain a stock of consumables for scheduled floor care operations.

Select the disc according to the condition of the floor

Colour should not be selected solely according to the type of floor covering. The condition of the surface and the purpose of the operation are also key factors.

On a lightly soiled floor mainly showing traffic marks or loss of shine, the red disc provides a buffing action. When the dirt requires more intensive scrubbing or removal of a superficial layer, the green disc provides an intermediate level of action. The black disc is used when wet stripping of accumulated layers is required.

This progression makes it possible to adapt the level of abrasiveness to the operation instead of systematically using the most aggressive disc.

Diameter and speed: two checks before use

The disc size must match the machine’s mounting system. The five available diameters are therefore not interchangeable: 381, 406, 432, 457 and 533 mm correspond to different configurations.

Rotational speed is the second point to check. Red discs intended for buffing can operate at up to 800 rpm, while green and black references are limited to 350 rpm.

Diameter, colour, rotational speed and the floor covering to be treated should all be considered together before selecting a reference.

Applications for floor care and refurbishment

  • Maintaining shine on lightly soiled floors.
  • Removing superficial black marks and scuff marks.
  • Dry buffing or buffing with polishing spray.
  • Wet scrubbing of surfaces requiring stronger cleaning action.
  • Light stripping of a soiled superficial layer.
  • Wet stripping of accumulated old coatings.
  • Preparing a surface before the next stage of refurbishment.

The selected colour must remain compatible with the floor covering concerned, particularly for stone, concrete and thermoplastic flooring, as the conditions of use differ according to the level of abrasiveness.

Frequently asked questions about abrasive discs for floor scrubbers

What is the difference between red, green and black discs?
Red is intended for buffing and maintaining shine. Green provides heavy-duty scrubbing and light stripping. Black is used for more intensive wet stripping.

Which disc should be used with a polishing spray?
The red disc can be used dry or with a polishing spray on lightly soiled floors.

Which colour should be selected to obtain a clean, matt surface?
The green disc is intended for heavy-duty cleaning and light stripping in wet conditions, with the aim of achieving a clean, matt surface.

When should a black disc be used?
The black disc is suitable when accumulated old coatings and dirt require a more intensive wet stripping operation.

How should the diameter be selected?
The diameter must match the machine configuration. Available sizes are 381, 406, 432, 457 and 533 mm, corresponding to 15, 16, 17, 18 and 21 inches.

What rotational speed should be observed?
The maximum speed is 800 rpm for red discs and 350 rpm for green and black discs.

Confirm the right disc for your equipment
